PAST HPV'S: "Midnight Madness", a 4-wheeled 2-person (side by side) all-terrain HPV; I was designer/primary-builder of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo's streamliner "Intuition"; though I certainly didn't own it, I was very involved with Cal Poly's DaVinci HP Helicopter - the First to ever fly!
Rides: No such thing when I am self-employed, but I plan to commute to my new (regular!) job on the E-Racer when I move in a couple weeks.
Where: Whitethorn, CA USA (permanent; family homestead) moving to Santa Cruz in late Jan 1995
Works: Mechanical Engineer
Likes: You mean there's something else?! ...Oh, OK: promoting the IHPVA, building HPV's and/or EV's, surfing the Net, SCUBA diving, sailing... Favquote: Life is Short, Eat Dessert First!
Climbs: not surveyed
Crash: Oh, boy... 25-mile Road-Race at 1990 IHPSC: I was riding the "Intuition"... at about 40 mph, in lap 2, while swinging wide in a curve to pass a slower vehicle (ironically my girlfriend's team's trike) I hit a bump and the front wheel washed out. The fall was OK, the slide/spin was fine (love that Kevlar!), but the curb... Ooooo! The impact tore the fairing, and a jagged edge found its way in to my knee... ambulance ride, surgery, 3-days in the hospital, and weeks of physical therapy... but all's well that ends well. I have fully recovered and I'm told that in addition to the scar, I have the distinction of the worst IHPVA/IHPSC crash. Let's keep it that way!
Beard: never more than a week's worth - too thin to look good
