I visited Vancouver this weekend on a mini holiday with my wife and managed to maneuver her into a bike shop after hitting about a zillion galleries. I told her it was time to view some kinetic sculpture.
Cambie Cycles is, I think, the only Canadian recumbent shop west of Toronto. Bob and Brock welcomed us like old friends and showed us around the shop Sunday afternoon.
They manufacture a smooth riding Easy Racer style recumbent they call the Recumbonie (I think) that I instantly felt very comfortable with.
And here is the serendipitous part: believe it or not they had some full scale Varna blueprints in stock! They're just as pretty as the bike itself. So I bought a set for my partner in the Varna project, Jake Saunders, to frame and hang over his mantle this winter.
What a great weekend.
