Right on Daniel:
I was listening to an ex Canadian soildier this morning on CBC.
This particular tour took him to a valley in Croatia. Part of his job
was to build a bunker as they were being shelled from across the valley.( He
is ill from using bauxite mine tailings in the sand bags)
When they heard the pops of artillary being fired from accross the valley,
they had only 60 seconds to be in the bunker before the first shell would
hit. Bicycles would be perfect in that situation, it would extent your
freedom by up to a 1/2 km .

As it turned out political orders stopped them from preventing ethnic
clensing (total slaughter of all people and animals ) of three Villages by
only hours.

It's a fair point. I'm not keen on war either. But if we accept that an
army is a useful thing to have in times of crisis - like intervening in
Indonesia as part of the UN for example - then they might as well
have bikes to do the job better.

Think how many Broxes we could sell the Indonesian government
for the price of the few dozen jet fighter planes the UK actually did
sell them...
