Roulandt, Chinkara, and Flevo, three Dutch recumbents.

One of the earliest European production recumbents, the long- wheelbase Roulandt (which I long assumed to be a Dutch made- up name with a "rolling" element in it, but subsequently found out to be the name of its constructor, Aart Roulandt ;-)). Ordinary grade mild steel, pretty solid though heavy construction. Not much to say about it other than "a work horse" and, possibly, just to rhyme, "count your blessings, it could have been worse."
Produced from around 1983 until the late eighties, the Roulandt frame is patterned on the American Avatar recumbent designed in part by David Gordon Wilson, one of the nestors of the HPV movement. Compared to current LWB models, the Roulandt has a rather unfavourable front : rear weight- distribution ratio, probably around 25-to-75% of the combined mass of bike and rider.
That pretty much prevents it being used to carry anything of substance  in the rear and simultaneously expect it to ride up any incline. This is one bike, that can do wheelies on the slightest of pretexts. That may have not been much of a disadvantage in the largely- flat Holland, but it certainly doesn't make it very suitable for more varied terrain. Still, it was  an early attempt at building of a better bike, and should be judged as such.

Originally, it came with a single 44 teeth chainwheel driving a 6- speed gearhub. This proved to be too high for my needs, and thus, after careful calculations, I exchanged it for a 40-toothed one. I don't remember what happened to the 4 missing teeth, alas.
